Create Stories

Stories have 3 main components that need to be defined: Story DataVideo, and Widgets.  To make these components work together into one dynamic message sequence,  you have to set the conditions at the story level using the Storyboard.

Below is the basic step by step process of how to create a story.

After setting up both campaign and format, you can begin the process of setting up a story.  A format can have as many stories as you want associated with it. Stories are the creative materials customized to become dynamic ads.  These are what the end-users will be seeing and interacting with.

First, you have to click on the Format where you want to create a story in, this will lead you to this page where you input and upload materials.

  • Story Data

Story Data defines the main settings of the story you are creating.

  1. Assign a name to your new story in a "Status_Format_Publisher" form to facilitate easier tracking.
    • Example:  Not Aware_Masthead_NYT
  2. Select a background image URL (you can choose from the assets you have already uploaded or upload new ones). Background Images are displayed in the ad's background.
    • The size of the background image URL will depend on the format of your campaign.
  3. Choose Workflow status. "Draft" will save your story without publishing it, "Published" will make the story go live right after saving it.
  4. Context allows you to select which "end action" from the rules engine of the campaign will trigger the story you are creating. This is to be defined when personalizing the consumer journey.
  5. Through the drop down list you can assign the rules engine specific to the story you are creating. This will enable you to personalize the single events within the story.
  6. Through Game option, you can define a gaming option for your story by selecting one of the many available choices.

  • Video

The video you choose will become the main asset of your story. This could be a traditional video or an animated background to use a base for the copy and overlay.

  1. You can select a Thumbnail that will appear when your video is paused. If none is selected a thumbnail will generate automatically.
  2. Under Playback Type select "VOD" if you want your video to start with a one-click or "Live" if you want the video to start automatically.
  3. Select a title for your video.
  4. Select a Video (you can choose from the assets you have already uploaded or upload new ones).
  5. Hit Save to save the story you just created.

  • Widgets

After defining Story Data and Video, you can further customize your story by adding widgets.  Users can interact with widgets and that's what make a story dynamic.

After finalizing the story details, you can go to the story editor to add widgets.  Connected Stories offer a variety of widgets that can be implemented in your story.

For a list of widgets available and how to set them up visit the Widgets Section.
